Twenty four year old Humaira today has her own community-based enterprise in her little village, Somak, 24 kms from the center of Ghor province. She first came in contact with AWEC when she was chosen to be a community volunteer in the village of Somak. She participated in a 5- day workshop, which gave her the basic know-how and tools to set up her own embroidery and sewing project. She makes curtains and sews items for trousseaus of brides in the village, and thus makes a neat income from her skills and business acumen.
