Project Name:    Working and Street Children Support Centers (WSCSC)

Project goal:
To work closely with working children, their families, their employers and other key duty bearers in Kabul city to prevent all forms of child rights violations and establish protection mechanisms at appropriate levels.
Project objectives:
•    To provide basic non- formal education for 200 street children in each centre who are surviving on marginal income  on the streets of Kabul, working or begging
•    To provide more than 200 street children in each centre access to education and improve mental health conditions of street and working children whose lives have been impacted by the civil war in Afghanistan
•    To manage and solve different violence and conflict cases of the street working children with their employees, policeman and their families
•    To develop children's groups which will be able to demand and raise their voices in defence of their rights.
•    To enhance awareness among the local community leaders , local government workers and employers of the children about the child rights and proper behaviour with the street and working children
Major Activities ;
Two resource centers in Kabul, Dehbori and Sarai Shamali areas are providing informal education for more than 450 children age from 8 to 18 years in three time a day for one and a half hours . These centers provide opportunities for working children and through them to their families by giving them access to education, vocational skills training, life skills training and psycho-social support to develop as productive and respected citizens. some Students of student work as appenticas  in the markets, previously that had no oppertunity of getting formal education because they had to contribute to provide  for their family's income. This project has engaged children’s employers;  guaranteeing that children get appropriate training in the profession they have chosen for work (wiring, welding, auto mechanics etc).
Each centre has two outreach workers who conduct classes in areas where children are unable to attend the centers, as well as working for the rights of working children who are engaged in exploitative and hazardous activities. Weekly counseling session and medical help are offered to students at each centre, in some serious cases the children are also referred to hospitals for further treatment with a subsequent follow up for ensuring their full recovery. In additionally children participate in awareness raising workshops on different issues such as drugs and children’s rights. Disabled children who attend the centre are provided with special medical care.
